Taxonomy Setup

Categories provide a folder-like structure for the Item Master. A robust category tree ensures that reports can be aggregated correctly.

  • Parent Categories: E.g., Pharmacy, Surgical Disposables, Lab Reagents, Stationery.
  • Sub-Categories: Under Pharmacy, you might have Antibiotics, Painkillers, and Syrups.

Reporting Benefits

When running the Consumption Report at the end of the month, grouping items by category allows the Finance team to see exactly how much budget was spent on "Surgical Disposables" versus "Office Stationery", without needing to audit thousands of individual item lines.
