Ward Dispensing
Fulfill medicine requests for admitted IPD patients directly to the nursing stations.
The Indent Workflow
Unlike retail POS sales where cash is collected immediately, Ward Dispensing operates on an **Indent** basis.
- A doctor prescribes medication for an admitted patient in the HMS.
- The nursing station generates a "Medicine Indent" request.
- The Pharmacy receives the Indent in the **Ward Dispensing** queue.
Dispensing & Billing
When the pharmacist fulfills the indent and marks it as "Dispensed", two things happen automatically in the background:
- The stock count is deducted from the Pharmacy inventory.
- The cost of the medicine is **auto-posted to the patient's IPD Folio**. No cash is collected at the pharmacy window; the patient pays for the medicine as part of their final discharge bill.
Returns from Ward
If a patient is discharged early or a medication is stopped, nurses can return unused strips/ampoules back to the Pharmacy. Processing a return here will automatically re-stock the inventory and credit the patient's IPD Folio.
